All the members are living in Helsingborg in the South of Sweden and love to play and listen to country music. Some of us started playing together, just for fun, in 1995 but the present members came together in 1998. In the late autumn 1999 we recorded a demo-cd with six tracks and sent it out to some country music clubs in Sweden, Denmark and Norway and got some engagements and, not to forget, made some new friends. Highway 40 has visited Latvia 3 times and the great country festival in Bauska. 2005 the band did a tour in Latvia and the name of the tour was Country Cream. Highway 40 has also visited the big Ostsee festival in Ventspils, Latvia. Highway 40 plays traditional/modern country music including a couple of our own songs. The repertoire is suitable for line dancing, which has become very popular lately. We all have professional careers and play country music in our spare time. All the members have experiences from other bands and different kinds of music. Highway 40 has made four CD records. What about the name then? At that time our No:1 song was Highway 40 Blues (written by Larry Cordle). Then we knew that the particular highway stretches from coast to coast in the USA and we thought about all the different country music styles along the way and related to our own, quite broad repertoire.
