Tennessee Stud started back in 2005 in Lyon (France) as an acoustic string quartet. At the times, the band played covers from country music, bluegrass, blues and western. It took a few years to get the actual line-up : Sandrine Varnet (lead vocal), Thierry Aili (acoustic guitar, lead vocal), Jean-Marc Salas (acoustic guitar, dobro), Pascal Rabilloud (bass), Philippe Jeoffroy (drums) and Christian Labonne (banjo, harmony vocals). The band is still very keen on adapting songs from different sides of american music to its acoustic instruments but it has also started to write and perform original material. The evolution of the band can be heard on the 2 CD recorded in 2007 (“The First One”) and 2009 (“What if ...”) which both got excellent reviews and regular airplays. The sound of Tennessee Stud is defined as a mixture of acoustic instruments and tight harmony vocals on a solid country-rock beat. The band tours in France but also in Germany and Switzerland. The release of their 3rd CD is expected during the summer 2011 as Tennessee Stud will be performaing at 2 major festivals: Country Rendez-Vous (Craponne sur Arzon, France) and Visaginas in Lituania.
